You can customize your crossword experience by opening the Settings menu. Options include:
Control Settings
The Control Settings determine how you navigate the grid while solving. You can choose whether or not you automatically move to the next clue after completing a word, whether you skip completed words when jumping from clue to clue, and if you do or do not want to overwrite letters you’ve previously written. This is also where you can hide the timer from view.
Learning Assists
Learning Assists alter how much assistance the puzzle provides when you answer correctly or incorrectly. You choose to be notified of errors after you fill the grid, immediately after entering the letter, or never. You can also change whether the puzzle locks in letters that you’ve validated using the “Check” feature, or if it reveals the presence and size of rebus squares.
Desktop Settings
These settings alter the puzzles appearance on desktop devices. You can change the view mode from Standard to the larger Presentation Mode, hide or show the current clue or word, and adjust the toolbar and grid placement.
Mobile Settings
The only mobile setting currently available is the choice to hide or show the back button while solving.
Preset Settings
The crossword solver has three preset modes you can enable if you don’t want to experiment with every setting individually. The Modern preset is our default setting, while the Classic and Pro presets are designed for beginners and advanced players, respectively. After you apply a preset, you can still toggle individual settings on and off to fully customize your experience.
Additional settings may be added over time as we continue to improve the crossword experience.
